3ntrans, streamlines the data-exchange between grid operators, contractors and government data-bases. 3trans includes a suite of tools that reads CAD data from field registrations, validates it and, if necessary, prepares it for upload to the GIS system.

Data Exchange
Grid operators and contractors may use different data-formats. 3trans makes sure that data is exchanged seamlessly.
Revision Automation
‘In-situ’ asset registration is used to update the central GIS database. 3trans enables quality checks and validations.
Automated Testing
Asset registration data from diverse sources is automatically tested against predefined quality and logic criteria.
Validation of CAD data
CAD files enriched with XML (NLCS++ in the Netherlands) can be validated before updating the central GIS database.
In the Netherlands, utility networks in built environments are almost always located underground. For the expansion or renovation of these networks, it is essential that network operators can rely on accurate registration of the existing infrastructure in a geographic model. Although network operators usually prepare the design for network maintenance and expansion themselves, the execution is often outsourced to external contractors and subcontractors.
In practice, the completed network expansions regularly deviate from the original design, as on-site adjustments are made due to obstacles or undocumented situations. To keep the current situation transparent for all involved parties, the new network assets are registered in the field, preferably while the trench is still open. This task falls to the contractors, who use measuring rods—often supported by GPS—to accurately map the new pipes and connection points.
